This recipe is many years old. My grandmother used to make it. Unfortunately, not many of her recipes were preserved, but this one was somehow written down and saved by me when I was still a little girl. I think many people are familiar with a similar childhood-style jam squares
250 g cold butter
2.5–3 cups flour (300–375 g)
1/4 cup sugar (62 g)
200 g sour cream
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking soda, quenched with vinegar
jam (strawberry and orange, or any favorite choice)
Grate the cold butter into the flour using a coarse grater (start with 2.5 cups of flour)
Add the remaining ingredients and knead the dough
Gather the dough into a ball — it should be elastic and not stick to your hands; add more flour if needed
Set aside about 1/5 of the dough for decoration
Roll out the remaining dough on a floured surface into a rectangle and spread with jam
From the reserved dough, roll thin strips and form decorations (strips, small balls)
Decorate the top of the pie
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 40 minutes
Cut into square pieces when ready
