226 g cold butter
3 cups flour (375 g)
a pinch of salt
5–6 tbsp ice water
1/4 cup brown sugar (50 g)
3 tbsp flour
3 eggs
1 cup maple syrup (250 ml)
1/3 cup melted butter (63 g)
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1.5 cups pecans (160 g)
Add salt to the flour
Grate the butter into the flour (using a coarse grater)
Gradually add ice water while forming the dough until it reaches the right consistency
Shape the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes
Roll out the dough and place it into a pie pan
Mix sugar and flour
Add eggs, maple syrup, butter, milk, and vanilla
Chop most of the pecans into medium pieces, add to the filling, and mix
Pour the filling over the dough and decorate with whole pecans on top
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes
