These meatballs are baked in the oven and turn out tender and juicy, with a little surprise hidden inside — a piece of mozzarella. Take a bite while they’re hot, and you’ll find melted, gooey cheese in the middle... mmmm!
Ingredients
500 g ground meat (I used a mixture of beef and pork)
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
2 tbsp finely grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup milk (60 ml)
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp of your favorite dried herb blend (I used herbes de Provence)
150 g mozzarella
800 ml of your favorite tomato sauce
Steps
Mix all the ingredients for the meatballs
Cut the mozzarella into cubes, about 1 cm in size
Shape the meat mixture into balls, placing a cube of mozzarella in the center of each one
Spread 1/3 of the tomato sauce over the bottom of a baking dish
Arrange the meatballs in the dish, leaving a little space between them
Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the meatballs
Cover the dish with foil
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 45 minutes
