This is a smaller cake — for a larger group, simply double the ingredients.
Two cream options are included; choose based on what you have on hand.
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar (125 g)
1 cup sour cream 14% (240 ml)
1 cup flour (125 g)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup sour cream 14% (120 ml)
1/2 cup heavy cream (120 ml)
1/3 cup sugar (85 g)
2 cups sour cream 30% (480 ml)
1/3 cup sugar (85 g)
grated chocolate
Beat eggs with sugar using a mixer
While mixing, add sour cream
Add flour and baking powder, mix well
Divide the batter into 2 equal parts
Add cocoa powder to one part and mix
Pour the batters into 2 pans (20 × 20 cm / about 8 × 8 inches each)
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until done
Remove from pans and let cool
Slice each cake layer horizontally into 2 layers
Whip all ingredients for your chosen cream until smooth and slightly thickened
Spread cream over each layer
Stack the layers
Cover the top with cream and sprinkle with grated chocolate
Let the cake rest for a few hours in the refrigerator. The cake is even better the next day
