As is our tradition, every fall we take a little trip somewhere nearby to enjoy the beauty of nature. This year, to our surprise and delight, autumn has been taking its time, still treating us to plenty of warm days.
Once again, we headed to the Niagara area for a little getaway, and then crossed the border to visit the Grand Canyon of the East (Letchworth State Park)
Not far from Niagara Falls, there’s a wonderful place that the kids absolutely love — Great Wolf Lodge. It’s a themed hotel resort with a huge indoor water park. The entire resort is decorated in a fun wilderness-inspired style
The main attraction is the huge indoor water park. In the lobby, there’s a talking tree, along with a talking bear and moose.
Every evening, little ones in their pajamas gather under the tree for a bedtime story, and sometimes even an evening disco
This time, we bought a magic wand
The kids ran all over the hotel, playing an interactive quest game. They followed instructions from talking paintings, opened magical treasure chests, and solved the mysteries of the game
They played arcade games and went bowling
Warmed up by the fireplace and posed for pictures
Didn’t want to get out of the water, stopped by the kids’ spa, and made crafts at the kids’ club
The next day, we crossed the border into the United States and headed toward a stunning natural canyon — Letchworth State Park. It is often called the Grand Canyon of the East, in contrast to the famous Grand Canyon of the West in Arizona.
The park stretches for about 24 km and offers plenty of places for camping, picnics, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. The scenery is truly spectacular
There are also many large and small waterfalls throughout the park. Here’s the most beautiful one we came across
I absolutely love autumn, especially those warm, sunny days and little fall getaways like this one
