These cheese buns are so delicious they hardly need any introduction. They have an amazing aroma, a crispy crust, and a warm, cheesy soft center. They are best eaten hot. And if they somehow make it to the next day, they are still great when reheated
This time I didn’t add any filling, but they pair beautifully with olives, smoked cheese, or sun-dried tomatoes. You can simply hide a small piece of filling inside each bun before baking
100 g melted butter
250 g cottage cheese
200 g sour cream
100 g grated feta cheese
100 g grated cheese (any kind; I use marble cheese)
1 egg
2.5 cups flour (310 g)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
white and black sesame seeds
Mix flour with baking powder, salt, and garlic powder
In a separate bowl, mix all remaining ingredients except sesame seeds
Combine both mixtures and knead into a dough. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes
Form chilled dough into walnut-sized balls (wet hands help)
Roll each ball in a mix of white and black sesame seeds
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown
