Another fun Halloween baking idea. Chocolate cookies shaped like little skeletons or mummies — crumbly and rich with chocolate flavour. And the white icing “dresses” these little guys up in true Halloween style:)
Ingredients
1 cup butter, room temperature (225 g)
3/4 cup sugar (190 g)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (375 g)
1/4 cup cocoa powder (30 g)
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
For the Icing
2 tbsp water
1 cup powdered sugar (125 g)
Food colouring (optional)
Steps
Beat the butter and sugar together using a mixer
Continue beating and add the egg and vanilla
Mix the dry ingredients separately
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and knead until a dough forms
The dough should be soft, elastic, and not sticky
Refrigerate the dough for 20–30 minutes
Roll the dough out to 0.5 cm thick on a lightly floured surface
Cut out shapes using cookie cutters
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 13–18 minutes
Icing
Mix the powdered sugar thoroughly with the water. Depending on the desired consistency, you may need slightly more or less water or powdered sugar
Decorate the cooled cookies with icing
