Traditional Christmas shortbread cookies. This recipe uses only three ingredients, yet the result is super crumbly, incredibly tender, and literally melt-in-your-mouth cookies. Warning: highly addictive.
To make shortbread in fun shapes, like hearts, use this recipe instead
Ingredients (makes 40 cookies)
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (226 g)
1.5 cups all-purpose flour (190 g)
0.5 cup powdered sugar (62 g)
Steps
Beat the butter with a mixer for 1 minute
While continuing to mix, gradually add the flour
Add powdered sugar and beat everything together for 5 minutes
The dough should become pale, fluffy, and slightly sticky
Drop spoonfuls onto a baking tray using two teaspoons, leaving space between them
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes, until the bottoms are lightly golden
