More than 30 years ago, the magazine Taste of Home was launched in the United States. Its concept was unique at the time — the recipes were submitted by home cooks rather than professional chefs. Over the years, the magazine gained enormous popularity and grew into a major publishing brand featuring magazines, cookbooks, and other culinary publications. The recipe for these cookies first appeared in the pages of Taste of Home many years ago
Ingredients
170 g unsalted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup sugar (165 g)
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups flour (250 g)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup jam (I used strawberry jam)
pinch of salt
Steps
Beat the butter and sugar with a mixer until light and creamy
Continuing to beat, add the egg and vanilla
Add the flour, salt, and baking powder, and mix into a dough. The dough will be very easy to work with
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions
Roll each portion into a log measuring approximately 30 × 5 cm (12 × 2 inches) on a lightly floured surface
Using your finger, make a groove down the center of each log
Fill the grooves with jam
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes
Allow the cookies to cool slightly, then cut into individual pieces
