I’m finishing the story of our trip to Orlando with the last park of the big three (Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld). Of course, Orlando has many other interesting parks, but it’s impossible to fit everything into one vacation. SeaWorld is a marine-themed park with rides and shows, the main stars of which are, of course, marine animals. A new attraction, Penguin Encounter — the world’s first attraction of its kind — had recently opened there. Want to dive into the underwater kingdom and also take a little walk around some of Orlando’s other interesting places? Then I invite you to come along!
SeaWorld is quite a large park, but you can easily explore it and see all the shows in one day. There aren’t long lines like in the Disney and Universal parks. Not far from the entrance, there is a small flamingo oasis
Next — STINGRAY LAGOON. A large pool filled with stingrays that you can actually touch. Then we entered the world of dolphins — DOLPHIN COVE. From underneath the aquarium, you can watch the dolphins swimming underwater. Outside, you can watch them being fed, feed them yourself, or simply admire them
Next — the world of turtles — TURTLE TREK. A large and beautiful aquarium, followed by a 3D movie in a dome-shaped theater.
We went to our first show — BLUE HORIZON SHOW. I have to say, all the shows at SeaWorld are produced at a very high level. Besides the trained dolphins, we also enjoyed watching talented acrobats and beautiful tropical birds
And here is the newest part of the park — ANTARCTICA. And within it, there is a beautiful attraction — EMPIRE OF THE PENGUIN.
We climbed into a vehicle and glided through Antarctica, eventually arriving in the kingdom of the penguins. Impressive.
The only downside — the temperature inside is just a little above 0°C... pretty chilly, especially when it’s +30°C outside
The kids went on the roller coaster KRAKEN. And then they went on JOURNEY TO ATLANTIS
The next show was SEA LION SHOW. A pirate show featuring walruses, seals, a trained otter, and an enormous pink walrus. I’ve never seen such a huge trained creature.
The main theme of the park is environmental protection. In keeping with this theme, the park even has a small area featuring sculptures of marine animals and plants made from plastic waste left by people on beaches
We also visited a beautiful aquarium, where we admired the underwater world while riding along on an escalator.
The next show had nothing to do with the marine world, but we really enjoyed it — PETS AHOY. Dogs, cats, mice, birds, an otter, even a skunk, and finally — a piglet. They all performed together so perfectly... real actors!
We also stopped by to visit the bears — WILD ARCTIC, the sharks — SHARK ENCOUNTER, and simply walked around the park
The kids went on one more attraction — MANTA
I can’t say that we were hugely impressed by SeaWorld. But that’s mainly in comparison with Disney and Universal Studios, as well as the fact that we had already visited similar marine parks. What impressed us most at SeaWorld were the shows. But if you have the time and opportunity to visit SeaWorld, I would definitely recommend it
Orlando also has many water parks, but we’re not big fans, and our resort already had all of that
After visiting all the parks, we had one day left. We headed toward the Gulf of Mexico, to Crystal Beach. It is famous for its clear water and white sand. We’re not big beach people and don’t particularly enjoy spending time there, especially in the sun, so first we stopped in the town of St. Petersburg. Yes, Florida has its own St. Pete :)
The town is known for the S. Dali Museum — The Dali Museum. It’s a relatively small museum, with the main collection of paintings occupying just one floor. Most of the works are originals. Photography is not allowed inside. Visitors are given headphones, and beneath each painting there are two numbers — one for children and one for adults. You can choose either option and listen through the headphones to the story and description of the paintings. We learned a lot of interesting things.
There was also some Dali-inspired design outside the museum. And a wishing tree, where visitors leave their little ticket bracelets with wishes written on them
Then we took a little walk around Westfield Countryside Mall in the town of Clearwater, since that was where there was a store where the boys absolutely had to buy yet another pair of sneakers
And by evening, we finally made it to the ocean
Yes, in describing our trips, I completely neglected to mention the food. It just so happened that while we were in Orlando, we didn’t pay much attention to food ourselves. Of course, we ate, but we didn’t spend time going to restaurants. At the resort, we stayed in a townhouse with a fully equipped kitchen. I quickly prepared breakfast and dinner, while we had lunch in the parks and, most often, brought our own food with us in advance. First of all, we didn’t want to waste time standing in lines, and secondly, the food in the parks was expensive and not particularly healthy.
But we did go to one restaurant, and only because many people recommended it to us. It was a buffet restaurant chain — Golden Corral. After visiting it, we understood why there are so many overweight people in Orlando. To stuff yourself Eat at a buffet like this costs about the same as buying yourself vegetables for a salad. Vegetables in Orlando aren’t cheap, while fast food and buffets like this are quite affordable. The selection of food is enormous, your eyes just wander. So many people really indulge, instead of buying groceries and spending time in the kitchen... But that’s not us)))
