Soft, fluffy, and delicate raisin buns — a classic homemade bake that always turns out perfectly. The airy yeast dough combined with sweet raisins makes them ideal for breakfast or a cozy tea time treat
1.5 cups warm milk (360 ml)
3/4 cup sugar (190 g)
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
125 g melted butter
2 tbsp vanilla extract
4 + 3/4 cups flour (500 g)
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 cup raisins
1 egg yolk
1 tsp milk
Add sugar, salt, and vanilla extract to the milk. Pour the mixture into the bread machine bowl
Add lightly beaten eggs and melted butter
Sift the flour and mix it with raisins. (I don’t add all the flour at once — I start with 4 cups, then adjust during kneading so the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky, but not runny)
Pour the flour mixture over the wet ingredients
Add the yeast
Select the “Dough” setting on the bread machine. After about 1.5 hours the dough is ready
If needed, add a little more flour and form balls using hands lightly greased with vegetable oil
Place the buns on a baking tray with some space between them
Cover with a towel and let rise for 30 minutes, until doubled in size
Brush with a mixture of egg yolk and milk
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 20–25 minutes
