Anyone who has children — and not just little ones — knows how much kids love playing with dough. Of course, after all that fun, the kitchen usually needs a serious cleanup! But when you have a stand mixer to help and a recipe for the most easy-to-work-with dough, it's really not that bad. In fact, everyone ends up enjoying both the baking and decorating process, as well as eating the cookies afterwards
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (225 g)
3/4 cup sugar (190 g)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2.5 cups all-purpose flour (375 g)
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
Steps
Beat the butter and sugar together with a mixer
While mixing, add the egg and vanilla
Combine the dry ingredients
Mix everything together and knead into a dough
The dough should be soft, elastic, and not sticky
Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm on a lightly floured surface
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes
If desired, decorate with colored sugar or sprinkles
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 13–18 minutes
