Puff pastry with a juicy meat filling. For those who want delicious homemade meat turnovers (chebureki) without making dough from scratch — or simply need a quick recipe — this lazy version comes together fast and turns out wonderfully satisfying
1 package puff pastry (450 g)
700 g ground meat (I used a mix of beef and pork)
1 large onion
~1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
vegetable oil for frying
Blend the onion until finely minced and add it to the ground meat
Season with salt and pepper, add a little cold water to make the filling softer and juicier, and mix well
Roll out the puff pastry to about 2 mm thick and cut out circles about 10+ cm (4+ inches) in diameter
Place the meat filling onto one half of each circle, leaving a small border around the edges
Lightly moisten the edges with water
Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork
Fry the turnovers (chebureki) in a well-heated pan with vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown
